Wong Ka Kui (黃家駒), born June 10, 1962, and tragically deceased on June 30, 1993, was a Hong Kong musician, singer, and songwriter. He is most prominently known as the founder, lead vocalist, and primary songwriter of the highly influential Cantopop rock band Beyond.
Ka Kui's musical journey began in the early 1980s, fueled by a passion for rock music. He formed Beyond with his brother, Wong Ka Keung, and friends, initially playing underground venues. They quickly rose to prominence, achieving mainstream success with their blend of rock, pop, and social commentary.
Beyond, under Ka Kui's leadership, produced numerous hit songs that resonated deeply with audiences, addressing themes of social injustice, personal struggle, and hope. His songwriting abilities and distinctive vocals made him a beloved figure in Hong Kong and across Asia.
